What to Expect:
You will hear from 3 speakers who are leaders in their fields of Naturopathic Medicine, Women’s Health, and Nutrition.
This speaker series will be moderated by Sarah Jamieson, a trauma-informed wellness practitioner and Strength and Conditioning Coach.
To start the evening off, each speaker will be asked tan introductory question designed to introduce their field and profession related to perimenopause and menopause. As well as, to position the broader theme of the evening.
Each speaker will have 7-10 minutes for the first question. This serves as a launching pad for our interactive evening.
Themes for the evening:
Women are dynamic, and so are their hormones and health needs. Women want to live longer, while retaining their health, energy, and vitality.
The connection between menopause and fitness (cardiovascular health), (strength training), (dietary changes) – are vast and we wish to highlight the importance of preventive measures during these transitions, emphasizing how these holistic health models can deeply improve women's resilience on the training floor and out into the world.
In this discussion we will also address myths, we will challenge biases and ask questions to help to identify, understand, and begin the process of eliminating bias in the medical, health and fitness related fields.
The Speakers:
Speaker 1: Dr. Alana Shaw Speaker , Naturopatic Physican. Dr. Shaw has dedicated her practice to the advancement of integrative medicine and reproductive and hormonal health. She is a member of the North American Menopause Society (NAMS) and is highly trained in prescribing hormone replacement therapy for perimenopause and menopause. Dr. Shaw is also certified to perform ultrasound guided IUD insertions in office and has a passion for providing her patients with safe, effective and comfortable contraception options. Dr. Shaw is an owner of Mint Integrative Health
Speaker 2: Dr. Krista Moyer, Naturopatic Physican. Dr. Moyer is an evidence based naturopathic doctor in Vancouver, Canada practicing since 2011. Dr. Moyer focuses her practice on Histamine intolerance and Mast Cell Activation Syndrome and how this can impact perimenopause and menopaise symptoms.
Speaker 3: Angela Harris, Nutrition and Strength Coach. Angela has worked in the health, fitness and nutrition industry for decades. As a seasoned coach Angela will debunk diet myths and share practical tips for sustainable, long-term wellness related to perimenposause and menopause symtoms. . No judgment, no restrictive plans—just a supportive environment where you can ask questions and learn how to embrace a healthier lifestyle without the dieting madness.
Moderator: Sarah Jamieson, Trauma-Informed Practitioner and NLP. As a seasoned trauma-informed practictioner across multiple discplines Sarah supports and guides people through an embodied approach that is informed by neuroscience, physiology and sensory processing based learning and movement. These include modalities in chronic pain-care, NLP, Breathwork and restorative pracitices.
